Caring for a Costume with Feathers
Here is some helpful information about caring for your new costume with feathers!
The feathers have been secured using a combination of zip ties and colour matched lycra ties, which have been sewn onto the briefs. The zip ties have been trimmed to remain as discreet as possible; however, you may notice them poking when changing into the costume. If they cause continual discomfort, consider gently sanding the tips or covering them with clear or colour-matched tape to create a smoother finish.
All ties have been tightly double-knotted but intentionally left untrimmed to allow for future adjustments and the removal of feathers when cleaning is required. Any excess ties can typically be tucked neatly into the feather boa to be hidden or trimmed if necessary.
In most cases, five ties are positioned to form a trapezium shape. Should a different number of ties be used, this will be communicated to you directly.
Additional Care Guidelines
Handle with care
Always handle feathers gently, avoiding pulling or tugging, as this can loosen the feather strands or distort the feather shape.
Care and Cleaning
Avoid exposing the feathers to moisture or chemicals such as deodorant or makeup, as this may result in colour transfer or damage. Do not submerge or machine wash the feathers. If cleaning is required, consult a professional familiar with delicate costume materials.
General Storage
Store this costume separately from other garments, ideally within its own garment bag.

Long Term Storage
Remove feathers from the costume prior to long-term storage to preserve their condition and store the costume and feathers in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight to prevent fading or deterioration.
Shedding
Some light feather shedding is normal with wear and movement. Avoid brushing or overhandling the feathers to minimise this.
Damage
If the boa has been damaged beyond repair, a replacement boa can be arranged at an additional cost.
